Are You Worried About Global Warming?

People used to talk a lot about global warming. Today, you’re more likely to hear commentators discussing climate change. The words and terminology may be changing, but many of the issues remain the same. The true effects of global warming are really only just starting to become clear, but it’s evident that there is cause for concern.

But are you worried? Some people seem to think that we should forget about these concerns. Why should we worry, the argument suggests, when we can leave these problems for future generations? That’s an interesting way of looking at things and takes the classic approach of trying to distance our actions from their impacts.

By thinking about future generations in a rather general way, we’re able to convince ourselves that we needn’t worry. Those future generations will include our children and grand-children too. Are we really so removed from the future? It seems that we should be more worried.
